I have previously talked about the great wine values from Argentina and here is another. The Domaine Bousquet is a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from Tupungato Valley, Mendoza Argentina. This wine is made with organic grapes grown at an elevation of 4000 feet above sea level.
The Bousquet family are wine makers originally from southern France. In 1990 Jean Bousquet arrived in Mendozza looking for the perfect location for his vineyard and winery. In 1998 he purchased his land in the Tupungo Valley. He is now creating wines with a European style that utilize the cool climate and terrior of the region. Domaine Bousquet is now one of the leading exporters of organic wines in Argentina.
This Cabernet has a dark purple color and a nose of berry fruit. On the palate, it is a velvety soft wine with a long, elegant finish. There are dark berry flavors with some earthy tones. Wine Spectator rates this wine at 90 points and I agree. The alcohol content is 14%. At my local Costco, this wine is $13.99.
SC Wine Joe rating = 90 points
